Jared put his hand on Mel's and smiled an Wanda. "So It's set. We'll leave tonight after Ian goes to sleep." He said since that was usually the darkest time and when the Seekers where on the other side of the mountains. Jared smiled at Mel. "That way we can have some alone time." He said kissing her lightly on the lips. Then remembered Wanda was there and backed away. "Uh. Finish you're soup Wanda." He muttered.

Wanda debated weither to let Melanie tell Ian before she heard that he might not agree to it. She frowned at Melanie and shook her head. "I'll tell him myself. It'd hurt his feelings if I didn't him myself." She explained before shaking her head. "No. You can have it if you want it." She said handing the piece of bread to Melanie. Jared explained when they'd meet.
Her face turned bright red as Jared kissed Melanie and looked away. She knew that she loved Ian, but there was always a brief flash of jealousy in her that she hated. Jared was Melanie's boyfriend, Ian was her's.

[/font][/i] W H A T M U S T W E D O T O R E S T O R E- - our innocence[/font][/center][/i] Melanie took the roll from Wanda and ripped a corner off with her teeth. "So It's set. We'll leave tonight after Ian goes to sleep." Mel set the roll on her tray and leaned her head onto Jared’s shoulder. She hadn’t slept enough the previous night, and a night excursion meant she would be exhausted tomorrow. It was a good thing Wanda did the shopping on raids. Maybe Mel could negotiate with Jeb to skip afternoon chores and take a nap instead.
"That way we can have some alone time." Mel smiled back at Jared. She tilted her head automatically when he leaned down, recognizing his intent easily. When their lips met briefly, the fire was there again. Mel sat on her hands to keep from winding them in his hair. When Jared backed away, for a brief flash his emotions were right on his face. Light panic. Mel mimicked him in looking at Wanda.
She was bright red, but Mel also detected the usual hint of jealousy underneath her embarrassment. Or maybe that was just her imagination filling in what she knew Wanda must be feeling. Trying to keep the blush from her own face, Mel took another bite from the roll.
Jared seemed to be sharing in the embarrassment as well. "Uh. Finish you're soup Wanda." ”You sound like Ian,” Mel said, leaping onto his pathetic conversation changer. ”See? We can totally cover being over protective for him.” Her attempt at a joke fell slightly flat. She cleared her throat. ”So…what city are we going to?”

Jared chuckled before going serious. "Tuscon is to close, the Seekers will be all over that city. We may have to go to a different state this time. We'll go straight to San Deigo, taking breaks occaisonally along the way. Once we get there we'll stock up on non-perishables and then head back. Cutting into the desert to avoid most of the Seekers. We may need to stay at Nate's place or Max's place for cover if the Seekers are heavily searching that night." He explained his tone exicted. He loved to go and raid, it's the most exicting non-life threating thing they can do. Well it is life threating but it's less life threating now that Wanda was here. "Ian might not like it, that's why I'm going to say that we're going to Phenoix. That's when we'll need Mel to explain it so Wanda doesn't let him instantly know it's a lie."
Jared finished off his second bowl of soup and started to debeat weither he wanted to get another. "Is going to San Diego alright with you Wanda? Didn't you say you came from that way?" He swear he heard her while in Mel's body explain that she was on the way to her healer in Tuscon from San Deigo.

Wanda stopped with her spoon halfway to her mouth at the mention of San Diego. She lowered it and thought about how many people would notice Mel. "If we go to San Diego Melanie cannot be seen." Wanda explained her eyebrows coming together thinking. "We can still go," She said quickly as to not start a 'debate' with Jared, "It's just that if we go close to the universty where I...we worked people will see her and start asking questions."

The mention of a raid got her blood pumping too. "Is going to San Diego alright with you Wanda? Didn't you say you came from that way?" Mel nodded, but let Wanda give the longer reply. They had come from San Diego before coming to the caves. However, it wasn’t like they had become much of a presence, what with Wanda’s reluctance to talk to anyone else. Now it seemed like a good thing
"If we go to San Diego Melanie cannot be seen." Melanie frowned. That part did not sit well with her, or seem completely necessary. She finished the roll as Wanda added more. ”Of course,” Mel added once she was done, ”San Diego is plenty big to stay away from the university. And Wanda wasn’t the most social soul.”
Most of the fun of a raid came from being able to go out. She would hate to go on a raid and still have to be cooped up. Anyway, with her seeker gone to the flowers, no one was really looking for her any more. Her—or rather Wanda’s—disappearance from San Diego was old news.
Notes: I’m already thinking about what could happen / go wrong on the raid (yay plotting)

Jared agreed with Mel. "We'll near the beach of San Diego, that way during the night we can actually do something fun. Besides, you said that Seekers don't really patrol during the night, well save here since of those retards." He said already planning which part of San Diego to raid first. "Then we'll head back, and since Ian isn't there we can have a tad more fun on this trip." Jared mumbled the last part before looking down at Mel and smiling.
"Isn't you're birthday coming up soon Mel?" Jared questioned, thinking before smiling down at her. "July twenty...second...no first." He said before smiling towards Wanda. "You'll have to do extra work. Besides you know the kind of party we threw for you're bodies birthday, it's they same for everyone's." He said before starting to plot what to get for Melanie's birthday that was coming up in a few days.

Wanda smiled at Jared as he suggested places that would be safest for Mel. "I think that's a great spot! I've never been to the ocean before I've never been in water like that." She exclaimed exictment in her features and her voice. She clasped her hands together and smiled. She then looked at Mel. "You're birthday is coming up? Oh! This will be you're first birthday in the Caves as you right?" Wanda asked before plotting what she should get for Melanie for her birthday. Wanda knew what she should get for everyone's birthday, but it was impossible to acheive that quickly.
For alot of people who didn't like her, she'd give them a birthday present by not coming out for the entire day.

Mel looked up at that. The beach. She remembered family trips from long ago…and she did like swimming. Wanda was wildly enthusiastic. Understandable, though, as she had never been to a beach, and never been swimming on earth. ”A night swim, Jared?” she asked with a grin, raising one eyebrow at him. Then, more seriously, she added, ”I don’t even remember how long it’s been since I was at a beach.”
At the mention of her birthday, Mel looked down embarrassed. She wished she had more food, just so she would have something to do with her hands. She really didn’t want to hassle anyone with her birthday. Maybe Wanda was rubbing off on her. Or maybe she just hated people fussing over her. By the looks of it, though, “This will be you're first birthday in the Caves as you right?" and "Besides you know the kind of party we threw for you're bodies birthday, it's they same for everyone's." were markers of what was to come. ”Don’t worry about it. It’s not that important.” she told the man and the girl—Wanda still looked like a girl even if she was nineteen. She certainly didn’t want any kind of party. Besides, the memory of the last birthday in the caves was still fresh in Mel’s mind; Wanda hadn’t come out at all that day. Of course, that also meant Ian hadn’t been out much either.

Jared laughed and gave her a one armed hug and rubbed her shoulders. "Come on Mel. It would be a great way to forget about the heat and being cooped up all day." He said in attempt to encourge her. He kissed her temple as she said it wasn't a big deal.
"Melanie. All birthday's are a big deal, you know that. It's a time where we all get together and act like we're not in caves hiding from Seekers. It's like the last remaining thing of humanity we still have." He whispered to her trailing kisses from her temple to her ear.
"You get all the food, presents you want. Plus you won't have to see Kyle, Sharon or Magnolia the entire day! Besides, you won't want to dissapoint Wanda if you don't have a birthday. You can tell she's looking forward to it, even if you're not.
