Mel sighed and leaned back against the rock wall. The very edge of the observation area was the right length for her to sit with her legs out straight and just the right height so when she did she had a few inches between her head and the ceiling. Now she had one leg out in front of her, while the other knee was up with her arm resting on it.Mel leaned her head and cracked her neck.
It had been an eventful day to say the least. First soap, then planning a raid and now this Anne drama. Apparently she hadn't listened to Mel's warning the other day. Mel hoped her jaw was completely dislocated; it would make the sting of punching with a soap-raw hand worth it.
After dropping Wanda off at her room and making sure she was okay, physically at least, Mel had looked around for Ian to talk to him, but he--and Anne--had been no where to be found. And Jeb had said that she couldn't even take a nap before the raid that night. Mel yawned. At least watching was relaxing. If mel hadn't known better than to doze off, she might have taken a nap there.
In the closest town, a car twinkled with reflected sunlight. Mel hoped Wanda was okay. She had looked pretty torn up. The sound of a lose rock falling down the path leading up here sounded behind her. Mel turned her head, to tired to be more than vaguely curious who was coming.

Wanda waited until Mel had left down the hallway before turning and pulling the pillow to her chest. Tears falling down her cheeks she looked down at Ian's side of the bed and the tears fell harder down her cheeks. After a few moments she got up and pulled off the sheet and pillows before pushing the mattresses to opposite sides of the room and placing Ian's pillow and his sheet onto his matress and did the same for her. She looked at the small pile of clothes and the shelves. Going through the clothes she put Ian's stuff on one side while folding her's up and placing them on her's. The entire room was seperated.
She fell back onto her bed and pulled the sheet around her and leaned against the wall. No more tears fell down her eyes. Until she smelt the colonge Ian wore. She remembered him telling her that he used that colonge before the invasion. So last raid she picked it up for his birthday. Tears fell down her face and she pulled the sheet tighter around her before letting it fall off her shoulders.
Standing up she walked over to the door and wiped her eyes, she was sure they were red and puffy from crying. Touching the red door she sighed and pushed it so it leaned away from the edge and she slipped out. Letting it fall back into place she leaned against the wall, the shadows enveloping her.
The hallways were empty, she was confused as to where everyone was. Probably in there bedrooms, dinner was over and no more chores to be done. She walked down the hallway. When she passed the games room she heard the laughter and sounds of people playing soccer. She sped up not wanting anyone to see her.
There was only one place to keep her mind off anything, that was the look out towers. She was going to the west observaton tower since it was the one that people used the least since it was farther away from the road. As she continued down the corridor she saw Mel sitting down in the tower. She sat down facing Mel and smiled sadly. "Hey Mel." She murmmered.

Mel sat up from the wall when the soul came into the light. Mel followed Wanda silently with her eyes as the little blond walked in. Wanda’s eyes were noticeably red and puffy against her pale skin. Mel smiled comfortingly. When the other girl sat down, she leaned back into the wall. Mel propped her feet up on the opposite wall next to Wanda.
She tilted her head to the side, looking at the soul sadly. As angry as all of this made Mel, she imagined it made Wanda just as sad. Mel looked back out of the tower. That car from before had disappeared, but another one—bright red—was out and very visible. She sighed. “Some day, huh?” She looked back at Wanda, her eyebrows raised slightly.

Wanda smiled softly at Mel and nodded. "Yeah." She whispered pulling her legs up to her chest and stared out into the desert behind Mel. Not much was going on out there. "The Seekers must be checking deeper into the desert." She murmmered in attempt to change the topic. She stared at a black SUV driving towards the border of California. Closing her eyes she took a shaking deep breath before looking back out. Her teeth chewed lightly on her bottom lip, a habit she accumulated after a while. It also helped her from not speaking, this body had a habit of blurting out things on it's mind when nervous.

Mel nodded, looking back out the hole. The very conspicuous black car puttered away from them, dark and obvious against the lightness of the desert. “Any direction that’s not here is good with me.” Mel hooked her fingers together and pressed her palms forward, craning her head back at the same time. Her neck gave a satisfying ‘pop’ and Mel sighed in relief. Dropping her hands back into her lap, Mel saw Wanda’s face again. She was chewing her lip uncertainly, a sign that Mel had found correlated with when she had something on her mind. No prizes for guessing what memory she was dwelling on. Still, Mel wondered how exactly she was feeling about it. “What’s on your mind?”

Wanda nodded, agreeing with Mel. Seekers didn't give her as much of a fright as before. Now they were like any other soul, only with guns. She only feared for the others, knowing that a Seeker wasn't allowed to shoot a Soul. Knock it out and bring it back to a Healer to get it removed maybe, but not kill. “What’s on your mind?” When Mel spoke Wanda looked towards her face before looking at her face and back out towards the black vehicle. "A lot of things." Wanda murmmered tugging at her lip before sighing and adjusting how she was sitting so she was more comfertable.

Mel nodded slowly. She knew the feeling. Wanda’s feelings, Anne’s next act, even how Ian felt; and besides that there was Jamie and the raid tonight and the caves in general. In a single smooth move, she spun around so she was leaning next to Wanda. She extracted her arm from between them and wrapped it around the soul’s shoulders. “Are you okay? Wait. Don’t answer that. It’s a stupid question." Mel paused and leaned towards Wanda. “Will you be okay?” That was better.

“Will you be okay?” Wanda nodded, sending a fake smile up at Mel. In actuality, however, she was heartbroken. She saw Ian's face when she came into the room, he looked...confused. Her rational side said that he didn't do anything, but this body was too pulled by emotions to listen to what was rational and what wasn't. She knew she shouldn't blame Ian, but- well he didn't do anything after besides stuttered and walk out of the room. It hurt her even more when he did that, usually he would explain what happened and try to make things better. All he did was...leave. She sighed and continued to chew on her lip while staring at the desert.

Mel didn’t believe her at all. The smile was obviously forced, and she was still the worst liar Mel knew. She sighed and rubbed Wanda’s far shoulder with her hand. “Talk to me. I just want to listen." Of course, Mel was really the type to put in her opinion, but she did really want to hear Wanda. Mel looked down at her face. After being so close to her for so long, she couldn’t help but be excellent at reading the soul’s emotions. She sighed. “Ian loves you. Not her."

“Ian loves you. Not her." Wanda nodded and pulled her legs closer to her chest. "I know he does, that's not what I was thinking about. Well.." She whispered into her arms and sighed. "I'm thinking of how he reacted, it wasn't very Ian-like." She muttered again and leaned against Mel and sighed sadly again.
