Wild took a left. He recongized the music imediatly and he hummed a verse. He stopped paid attention to the road. He looked out of the desert plains and sighed. It was hot in the car so he turned on the air conditioning. He felt the cool air hitting his face and he leaned into it. He sucked in a breath and said, "Do you expect to find anything?"

Flames was glad for the air conditioning; she had just been considering opening a window, but this was much better for her hair. Wind just made it look rumpled. She closed her eyes and leaned closer to the vent. This was nice. "Do you expect to find anything?"
Flames opened her eyes and slid them over to Wild. "Would I waste my time if I didn't? I at least expect to get something to hint at, if not where they are, who they are." She fingered her bag, in which were duplicates of the files of disappearances. Flames had poured over these for too long, memorizing the pictures of faces, without finding nything new. SHe needed a breakthrough.

Wild frowned. He hadnt meant to ask a stupid question. He turned intoa gas staion parking lot and parked in one of the slots. He turned off the car and said, "Im sorry to say, but I need gas."he motioned toward the dashboard and the gauges. He closed the door and opent eh nozzel and the gas tank. He inserted the nozzel and pushed on the gas. It flowed and he sighed. It was getting hot. He decided to go inot the gas station to pay and get drinks. He walked to the other side of the car and said, "I'm gonna get us some drinks. Be right back." he walked towards the building.

Alone in the car, Flames sighed. Gas. Of course. The desert air was making her rather thirsty, though, so maybe it was a good thing he had stopped.
Left with nothing else to do, Flames took out her files and stared at them. Which were innocent and abducted, which guilty and now humans, which unrelated? Here, the soul Burns Living Flowers in the body of the human Nate, next Reflection of the Moon in Jessica, still another, the Healer Summer Song, in the body of Candy. Flames flipped through to the most interesting file: a Seeker, Lacey, on her first life, gone after searching endlessly through the dessert for another soul--Flames went to the next file--Wanderer, nine lives, in the body of the rebel, Melanie. Coincidence that the Seeker had disappeared out in the very dessert she was sure there were humans in? Flames doubted it.
She let the files fall back on top of one another. She should probably get Wild to look at these as well; she had required every other Seeker under her control to memorize them, just in case.
