Jamie walked into the main hall. He was hungry and tired from doing chores all day. He walked over to the counter with all of the spoils and picked out a granola bar and a water. Before he got to his seat he ripped open the granola bar and bit in, savoring its sweetness and texture. He wiped the crums on his pants and open up the water. He took a drink and slomly drained the whole thing.
He missed being around Jared and Wanda and the others. He hadnt seen them in a while and he was getting sad and dissapointed. Were they avoiding him? No . They would never do that. They were just to busy to seek him out to talk.

Mel's feet pulled her swiftly down the hallway from the kitchen, as she bit into a roll. Wanda was off somewhere, and Jared was no where to be found, and, well, everyone she would really seek out seemed to have disappeared. Maybe she'd just spend the lunch break taking a nap.
When she reached the main plaza, though, she saw the back of a familiar head. Mel smiled. She had not seen nearly enough of her brother lately. Walking up right behind him, she ruffled his hair. Sure, he hated it when she did that, but sometimes she just couldn't resist. "Hey, kid. Where've you been all day?" Mel hopped up on the counter in front of him and then, feeling foolish for being so much taller than him, patted the spot next to her.

Jamie hopped off his seat and ran around the counter to sit by Mel. He smiled and hopped up beside her. He hugged her tightly and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He hadnt seen her in such a long time and he was so happy. He took another bite of his granola bar and looked at Mel's roll. He motioned towards the counter and said, "Dont you want a granola bar? there is plenty.". Crumbs fell out of his mouth and he closed it quickley.he giggled a little.

Mel swung her arm around her brother and squeezed him for a moment. She ripped off another piece of her roll, watching Jamie's somewhat skeptical look at it. When he spoke while still chewing, Mel rolled her eyes. "Don't talk with your mouth full," she chided automatically.
Mel put the piece of her roll in her mouth, chewing very deliberately. She waited until she had swallowed completely to answer Jamie's question. "And I would love a granola bar. I could use more food." Glancing back, Mel located the stash of bars easily. She swung her legs over the counter and hopped off. Snatching a granola bar quickly before standing again, she leaned against the counter "So what were you actually doing today?"

Jamie smiled and swollowed the crumbs. He watched as Mel grabbed for a granola bar.She leaned against the counter and said, "So what were you actually doing today?" He sighed and took a gulp of water. All he ahd done today was learn in sharons class. It wasnt very interesting." I hung around in the games room with some of the guys. What about you?"he said, lying greatly. He hoped she wouldnt even ask. he needed to be cool.

"I was helping in the kitchen. And don't insult my cooking because these rolls are pretty awesome, if I do say so myself." Putting the rest of said roll into her mouth, Melanie jumped on the counter again, spinning so she could face the same way as Jamie. While she swallowed, Mel tried to rip the wrapped on the granola bar.
"So," she said, finally spiting the wrapper at the top and begining to peel it down the bar, "You didn't have any school today?" She smiled slyly, thinking she might already know the answer.

Jamie felt appaled. He frowned and hung his head. She had known."Well I did go to school. But I passed through the games room when the guys were in there."he said,, the last part rushing out to prove he wasnt lying about he whole day. He sighed and took another bite of his granola bar, finishinf it off, then taking another drink of his water.
He looked over to see Mel's face and saw knowingness. She was always smarter than him. She always knew before he thought of it.

Mel took a bite of her granola bar while Jamie spoke. Of course. He was going for...she wasn't sure what to call it. Just coolness? Street Cave cred? Why was he always trying this? Mel refrained from shaking her head for his benefit. Instead, she smiled, wondering how to phrase it.
"You know, Jamie," Mel began, "I'm your sister; I'm not going to judge you. Unless, of course," she reached over here and shoved his shoulder lightly, "you keep trying to lie to me."

Jamie bowed his head in shame."Sorry. I just wanted....I guess..to be cool. I hate doing wussie stuff."he said, pouting and sticking up his lip. He wanted to be cool to her was the real truth. He wanted to be cool in general, but most of all to her. He took another drink of his water and sighed. He looked up at Mel to see if she had forgave him. He didnt need her to be mad at him now.

"Learning," Mel told him, "is not 'wussie.'" She used air quotes around the word. "If it weren't for the invasion, I could still be in school." She saw his expression and put her arm around his shoulders again, pulling him towards her. She wasn't sure whether the pout was natural or forced, but it still made her want to protect him. He was her little brother.
Mel leaned her head over. Who did he always need to prove things to? Briefly, she wondered if the other guys could be teasing him, but almost immediately dismissed the notion. No, Jared certainly wouldn't and everyone listened to Jared. "Stop doing that face," Mel said, smiling, "You're making it very hard to lecture you on the merits of a complete education."
